Afternoon Lenten Studies

Monday, March 21, 2011
3:00 p.m.

Join a small group this Lent. They will meet for three sessions. There are different times and locations and we ask that you covenant to attend all three no matter which one you choose. Each group will be exploring a few of the long discourse passages in the Gospel of John. In each case Jesus has a conversation with someone and lots of questions are passed back and forth between the participants, but it certainly doesn’t seem like they are on the same plane. They are all a bit confusing - they are mysteries, perhaps, to be explored. Come and join with others to see if you can find the meaning within them.

and most of all we are terrified of you.
What do you expect of us?  What are you asking us to do and be?
May the dawning of your light give us the confidence to wait expectantly and creatively for what lies ahead.
When the unexpected happens, may we rejoice that you have been, now are,
and always will be with us.  Amen.

* Sing a verse from "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel"
* End by holding hands and saying: "Come Lord Jesus, Come. Amen"
