Beginning on February 23, 2012, many of the historical objects which normally reside in our safes will be exhibited in Reid Memorial Chapel. You will have an opportunity to view the old communion vessels, the 1717 “vinegar” Bible, historic books and papers, and the original walking stick, a gift from George Washington to our first pastor, Patrick Allison. There will be an opening reception.
8:00 p.m. Experience the sonic splendor of a trombone choir and pipe organ led by David Fetter, former Principal Trombone of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. A program of classical music, along with selections of a lighter mood that is sure to delight the senses, both aurally and visually!
The program includes fanfares by Daniel Speer & Tilmann Susato; Ave Maria settings by Mozart, Holst & others; a selection of Life and Death themes featuring the Bach Chorales, It is Enough & Come Sweet Death and Monty Python's Always Look on the Bright Side of Life; and a collection of tunes for trombones and organ by Schütz, Wagner & Gigout.
Reception to follow.
Tom Long will preach at First and Franklin as we are joined by our 15 daughter churches.
