Mission Policy Statement

The Session of The First and Franklin Street Presbyterian Church approved the following "Mission" policy statement on February 9, 1992.

The mission of The First and Franklin Street Presbyterian Church is to embody the grace of God by practicing and promoting reconciliation among all people.

The mission is accomplished as we:

  • promote proclamation of the word and glorification of the spirit through meaningful corporate worship;
  • promote reconciliation of all people, regardless of race, sexual orientation, age, physical ability, or economic status;
  • promote and encourage new members and church growth;
  • preserve, maintain, and continue our historic commitment to a spiritual and physical presence in the city;
  • promote the empowerment of the disenfranchised through connectional participation in social justice organizations;
  • promote and encourage the well-being and spiritual wholeness of our faith community through Christian education, including prayer, meditation, small groups, and gatherings for study and mutual support;
  • encourage the elevation of the individual spirit and indwelling Christ in the corporate spirit of the congregation.
