Task Forces Update
Task Force Kick-Off Meeting
On July 22nd members of Session and Task Force leaders and volunteers gathered by way of Zoom to get an orientation to the overall plan behind the Task Forces and to confirm where each person would be serving. The three task forces are as follows:
- Buildings (Bill Bridges and John Wolford, Co-Chairs, Paul Fowler, and John McLucas): This task force will make recommendations relative to the best use of select properties, either through partnership, lease, or sale.
- Capital Campaign (Scot Spencer, Chair, Onyeka Anaedozie, and Laurel Oldach): This task force will be assessing the climate for giving and the level of giving that we could expect along with goals for any proposed capital campaign.
- Beyond the Building (Mudassar Iqbal and Jim Schroll, Co-Chairs, and David Wallace): This task force will be asking, among other things, what is essential to our congregational identity. Anticipate an invitation to “virtual home meetings” to talk about these kinds of topics in the near future.
We are incredibly grateful for each person involved in these three task forces. We are also indebted to our Interim Treasurer JT Paulk, who will be available to assist the Task Forces with any questions they may have regarding the financial end of their recommendations. Task Force groups will make their reports and recommendations to Session in the coming months. The overall vision for the Task Forces is to assist the Session as it makes decisions leading to the sustainability and vitality of the congregation. We know that financial sustainability does not come without congregational vitality: they go together. Our hope is that the Task Forces will give Session concrete recommendations that get us further down the road to those mutually important goals, sustainability and vitality.
