Sundays at First & Franklin

Whether this is your first time worshipping with us or you’ve lost count of how many times you’ve been, we’re so glad you’re here at First and Franklin Presbyterian Church!

Our Worship Services

Our worship service starts at 10:30 on Sunday morning in the Church sanctuary and goes until around 11:45 on most mornings. Our services are directly followed by a time of fellowship and light refreshments in Reid Chapel—a time to visit with one another, greet guests, and celebrate different members of our community. You can chat with our pastor as well as our ruling elders about finding a church home during this time, as well.

Before our worship service, we encourage you to join our Adult Forum, held in Backus House—directly adjacent to the Church sanctuary—beginning at 9:15 on Sunday mornings. Our childcare and nursery also begin at 9:15 in Backus House, as well as our MultiAge Children’s Education. Our Children’s Choir rehearses on Sundays from 12:00-12:40 on Sundays (directly following the worship service) in the Choir Room.

What to Expect

To be greeted by ushers

Ushers will be in the narthex of the sanctuary and will show you to a pew if you’d like and provide you with a worship bulletin. Bulletins are also available in large print for those with seeing impairments.

A liturgical service

This is a service with traditional hymns and an engaging, relevant sermon based on Biblical principles and practical application. Hymnals and Bibles are provided in your pews and our worship bulletin will guide you through our service.

Envelopes and cards

Offering envelopes, prayer request cards, and guest welcome cards are available in your pew for your use. Please fill these out and let us know that you're here!

Communion

The celebration of the Lord’s Supper (communion) on the first Sunday of each month. In addition to home-baked bread generously supplied by our congregants, we offer gluten-free option for those who are sensitive.

After the Service

Join us for coffee hour

After each Sunday service, you are invited to a fellowship hour with coffee and other light refreshments in Reid Chapel. Come meet with our congregation, fellowship with one another, and discuss the sermon over baked goods, lemonade, and coffee.

Visit with our Pastor

Whether you're looking for a new church home, had questions about the sermon, or just want to say hi, our pastor is always willing to stop and chat after our service.

Get involved with Peacemaking

Time after the service is frequently used to mobilize the congregation in Peacemaking missions, specifically the Brown Bag and Purple Ribbon Ministries. Join others in the congregation to hang the ribbons outside and pack bag lunches for the homeless of Baltimore. Don't forget to pick up a few to hand out on your way home.
